One of my favourite memories was sitting on the cruise deck in the evening, watching the small villages and palm trees pass by. The sightseeing was wonderful too, especially Philae Temple in Aswan. It was a beautiful combination of history and relaxation.

I only had a few days to spend in Egypt, so I chose to focus on Cairo and Luxor. It turned out to be a great decision. The temples were far more impressive in person, and seeing the Great Sphinx was unforgettable. I'd definitely like to return and explore more of the country.

We travelled with our two children, and everyone found something to enjoy. The pyramids were a big hit with the kids, while my husband and I really loved the Valley of the Kings. Having time to relax in Sharm El Sheikh at the end was a lovely way to finish our holiday.

Sailing between Luxor and Aswan was my favourite part of the trip. I loved waking up to the river views and visiting the temples along the way. Kom Ombo was particularly interesting, and the scenery from the cruise deck was something I'll always remember.

My wife and I had been planning a trip to Egypt for years, and finally seeing the pyramids was such a special moment. We also loved exploring Luxor and hearing the stories behind the temples. The Nile cruise gave us a chance to slow down and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Visiting Egypt was an incredible experience. Seeing the pyramids up close was something I had dreamed about for years, but the Nile cruise was just as memorable. The temples in Luxor were fascinating, and every destination had something special to offer.

Cairo and Luxor were both incredible. The pyramids were even more impressive than I expected, and exploring the Valley of the Kings was fascinating. Five days went by so quickly, but the itinerary gave us a wonderful introduction to Egypt.

Exploring Cairo and cruising along the Nile before relaxing in Sharm El Sheikh was a wonderful combination. We enjoyed discovering the temples and historical sites, but having a few quiet days beside the Red Sea made the holiday even better.

The river is the whole watercourse — around 1,320 km long, rising near the Atlantic coast in the Brazilian state of Paraná and flowing west. The falls are a single feature roughly 23 km before the river's confluence with the Paraná. Above the falls the river is broad and calm; below, it runs through a narrow gorge for several kilometres before opening out again.

Unlike Niagara, Iguazu has no tradition of barrel stunts, and its geometry makes any such attempt effectively unsurvivable — the water lands on exposed basalt rather than a deep plunge pool. Accidental falls have occurred over the years, and the walkway systems in both parks are heavily railed for that reason.

Close to it, given sun. The permanent mist cloud plus direct sunlight creates rainbows almost continuously through daylight hours, with the strongest arcs in morning and late afternoon when the sun sits lower. On clear nights around the full moon, the same physics produces a moonbow — a faint, largely colourless lunar rainbow.

Sediment. Heavy rainfall in the upper catchment washes the region's iron-rich red soil into the river, and the water arrives at the falls stained. It is a natural seasonal effect rather than pollution, and it can shift the water's colour from clear green-brown to a deep rust within a day of upstream storms.

Not the falls themselves — both parks are protected and the cataracts are untouched. However, the nearby Itaipu Dam on the Paraná River is one of the largest hydroelectric facilities in the world, and its construction in the 1980s flooded the Guaíra Falls, a separate waterfall system upstream that was, by volume, even larger than Iguazu. Guaíra no longer exists.

Two — Brazil and Argentina. Paraguay is often mentioned because the tri-border point sits nearby where the Iguazu River joins the Paraná, but no part of the falls lies in Paraguayan territory.

Physically yes, and some visitors do it, but it means an international border crossing mid-day and roughly half the time on each side. Most people who have done it say the Argentinian side in particular is compressed uncomfortably, since its walkway network alone takes several hours to cover properly.

All three are correct in their own context. Iguazú is the Argentinian Spanish spelling, Iguaçu is Brazilian Portuguese, and Iguassu is an older anglicised form still used in English. All derive from the same Guaraní root meaning "big water."
